May is finally here and I am so pleased to report that Oneida Schools has had an extremely successful year! Our academic and athletic programs are continuing to grow and flourish, and I want to thank each of you for allowing us the opportunity to educate your children. At OSSD, our careers are our passion, and we truly want what is best for our students and their families.
*Important Highlights*
For the 2023-2024 school year, the Commissioner of Education approved OSSD to utilize (4) of our stockpile days to be used to train our teachers, teaching assistants, and staff. This training is intensive, but is also needed to help us prepare for the upcoming school year.
What does that mean for you and your child(ren)?
The OSSD calendar has been altered. The last full day of school will be held on May 19th. Students will not attend school on May 22nd, 23rd, 24th, or 25th. We appreciate your support as we prepare for the upcoming school year.
As you may know, the month of May is extremely busy for both our students and staff. Please take a moment to review the dates below regarding upcoming Spring events and celebrations. Also, please remember that May 8th - 12th is Teacher Appreciation Week. Don't forget to thank our incredible teachers and staff for all of their hard work this year!
We are also pleased to announce the dates for our Summer Learning Camp!
Oneida Schools Summer Learning Camp will start on June 5th and last through June 30th. This is a great opportunity for students to receive a strong start for the next school year and it can also be especially beneficial for new transfer students. We look forward to seeing your child this summer! (Additional details below)
We have officially broken ground on the new gymnasium at the elementary school! As construction continues, please bare with us during student drop-off and pickup. We realize the parking lot is quite full, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Reminder: We would also like input from our community on staff members that you see who are going above and beyond to support our students and community. You can nominate a staff member for the "People's Choice Award" by emailing their name and an explanation as to why you think this employee deserves the People's Choice Award to katie.johnson@oneidaschools.org.
One employee will be chosen each month!
As always, thank you for supporting Oneida Schools.
