8th Grade Social Studies

Welcome to 8th Grade Social Studies!
 
 
This United States History course is the survey of American history from the founding of the first European settlements in North America through 1877. This course focuses on the historical, geographical, political, economic, and cultural events and issues related to the following eras: Colonization, American Revolution, The New Nation, Growth of a Young Nation, Sectionalism and Reform, the Age of Jackson, Expansion & Division of the Nation, the Civil War, and Reconstruction.
Additionally, students will analyze the American beliefs and principles of government that are reflected in the U.S. Constitution and other historical documents, and they will understand how these principles are put into action through the rights and responsibilities of U.S. citizens.
